The Lambi Dehar mines, also known as the Lambi Dehar coal mines, are located in the Mussoorie hills of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The mines were closed in 1996 due to a series of accidents.
After the closure of the mines, the area became known as a “ghost town” due to the abandoned buildings and the presence of spirits that some locals claim to have experienced. The area has since become a popular destination for tourists and thrill-seekers who are interested in exploring the abandoned structures and the eerie atmosphere of the town.
It is worth noting that while the Lambi Dehar mines may be a fascinating place to visit, exploring abandoned mines or buildings can be dangerous and is not recommended. It is important to always take proper safety precautions and follow local laws and regulations when visiting such areas.

On a cozy October morning, we decided to visit mussoorie, we got our bags ready and headed for a 3-days trip to Mussoorie. We top-upped the fuel tank and headed towards the “Queen of the Hills”, which is another name for Mussoorie.
We had heard about a haunted place in mussoorie so we decided to gather some information about that haunted place in mussoorie. We just only knew the name of that place and did not had any idea how to reach and where that place is located in mussoorie. So we decided to ask the locals about that haunted place called lambi dehar mines, but as it was too late so we decided to do it in morning.
Day 2: Exploring the Haunted place in Mussoorie, Lambi Dehar Mines.

In early morning after having breakfast we decided to look for any kind of information available regarding the haunted place in mussoorie. We asked at the reception of the hotel that if there is any kind of haunted place in mussoorie, the receptionist laughed at us and replied “this is 2015 how can you guys believe in such things. There is no haunted place in mussoorie”. But as we were keen to find that place out and explore it, we were not disappointed.
We asked many locals but no one knew about lambi dehar mines. Then we decided to look for that haunted place by own. So we decided to go to hathipaon a place in the outskirts of mussoorie. We stopped at a shop to have some snacks. We asked the shopkeeper about the haunted place in mussoorie, he said he know about such place called lambi dehar mines. We were full of excitement and decided to go there, but he warned us not to go at that place. Many peoples have lost their lives and many of them are missing he said. He said that place is located in a very difficult terrain and it’s really hard to reach there, and the place have nothing then some ruins of limestone mines.
Anxiously we asked more about the place. He said there are many stories about that place being haunted. More than 50,000 peoples have lost their live here in the time on British Empire he said. There was a limestone mine in old time which was functional till 1990. Mining was stopped since 1990 after an order from Supreme Court on India. He said that place is so remote and barren that on one dares to visit that place even in day light.
As per him there is a witch who walks down from the hill and kills everyone whosoever is present in the premises of the mines. There is a second story as well as per that story there is a ghost of an army officer who was killed by her wife. His wife was cheating on him with another man and wanted to get rid of her husband. So she planned his murder with her boyfriend, one day the wife took the officer out for a walk at the mines. When the couple passed below, her lover, who was waiting for them on top of a cliff, threw a massive boulder in their direction. The wife jumped to safety because she understood what was going to happen, but the poor husband was crushed under the boulder. Although it is unknown what became of the unfaithful wife and her lover, it is thought that the spirit of the Army commander is still imprisoned in the mines and is compelled to relive his death every night for all eternity. Others claim that he is still frequently heard, night after night, sobbing in misery. They assert that he is still unsure of what took place and that the woman he cherished betrayed his confidence and killed him. He will remain in a death cycle, in accordance with local belief, unless he learns the truth, but who will reveal it to him? Who will be bold enough to bell the cat?

People talk about quite a few extraordinary phenomenon that take place here at night. They recall hearing the sick people’s grunts and cries at the now-deserted hospital in the town. It has been frequently felt that the shrieking Witch is there. Those who sometimes travel through this place claim to hear screams of the restless spirits of the dead. Strangely, they say, that as they moved closer, the screaming abruptly stops. Along with strange occurrences, locals also talk about how numerous buses and trucks have plunged from the cliff. Moreover, There is also one incident of a helicopter crashing down at the mines and the screaming Witch was been blamed for all these accidents.
We went to that place and decided to capture everything in our cameras. One of my friend started recording and all of sudden the battery of the camera was exhausted. He said the camera was full of charge as he charged it for full night and never used it. It was really strange and we could not figure out what went wrong with the camera.

With the very first paranormal experience we decided to leave this place as it was getting dark and there were some scary sounds coming all around. People also say there are instances of leopard being spotted at this place and this place is not safe at night. So we were not sure about the witch and spirits but we surely did not wanted to be the food for leopards, we decided to leave that place with lot of questions in our minds.
